AVG launches LiveKive cloud sync and backup tool

LiveKive takes aim at services like Dropbox and SugarSync, though at the moment it's lagging behind in terms of features. As it stands, LiveKive is only compatible with Windows and OS X. There are no mobile clients yet, though with AVG's strong presence on Android we wouldn't be surprised to see an app arrive in the near future.
The company is offering a heck of a deal right now, however. If you sign up for a paid account during the launch phase, you can score unlimited storage for $80 for a whole year. You can't even score 50GB per year at that price from Dropbox, so if cost and space are more important to you than cross-platform availability, LiveKive might be worth checking out.
If you're not interested in ponying up any cash at the moment, you can still get a 5GB account free of charge. Just head on over, and create a LiveKive account.

The interface on that client looks *exactly* like SpiderOak. Coincidence, or are they maybe actually providing the service?

@David Burton Indeed, they do look almost identical

@David Burton Yep, you're right. See http://www.smallcloudbuilder.com/storage/articles/322-avg-livekive-aka-spideroak-reviewed

Looks like an interesting product -- perhaps rushed out a little too soon.
The Help link takes you to their support pages which only have FAQs etc for AVG virus products; nothing on LiveKive. I tried to go onto the forum but it tells me there is a fault and the link may be out of date, click one of the links below (again nothing for LiveKive)

I'd just recently signed up for SpiderOak's service; that's the only reason I even noticed the "similarity."
It does strike me as a little odd, though, that SpiderOak has a Linux client and AVG doesn't, since SpiderOak is apparently providing the service. I would have like to have had the 5GB that AVG offers over the 2GB from SpiderOak...

Hi there. Thanks for this post on AVG LiveKive, a product that we at AVG are very excited about. We're eager to find out what people think of LiveKive, and we're delighted that it's creating such a buzz. However, we'd just like to point out that there are mobile clients available for LiveKive – in your post you suggest this may not be the case. For everything you need to know about LiveKive, why not pay us a visit at www.facebook.com/avgfree ? Thanks.
Kind regards,

Great tool! I think it's powerful competitor for Dropbox. Our company use Online backup service of Novosoft: http://www.handybackup.net/online-backup.shtml, and now we'll think over and try LiveKive.
