Vimeo app for iOS with built-in video editor now available
Vimeo, the video site that seems like it's meant to perpetually stand in YouTube's shadow, has released its first application for iOS today. In short, the app brings the full Vimeo experience to your mobile device -- with a decent video editor thrown in for good measure.
Vimeo for iOS lets you watch, upload, manage, and edit videos. You can watch your previously uploaded videos and easily add them to your iDevice's Camera Roll. You can also watch videos that you have in your Vimeo Inbox, Watch Later queue, or videos that you have previously liked or view a selection of videos from Vimeo's curated channels by using the Browse tab.
You can also upload raw footage or already edited videos to Vimeo in either SD or HD, and uploads can be paused and resumed at any time. The built-in video editor is easy to use and rather feature-packed, allowing you to combine, edit, and trim your videos, as well as add transitions, titles, effects, music, and recordings, and also control volume levels. The edited videos can be saved to the Camera Roll if you don't want to immediately upload them to Vimeo.
Vimeo for iOS lets you manage your videos, too: replace existing videos, edit titles, descriptions, tags, privacy settings, and credits for each video, add your clips to your Groups, Channels, and Albums, and access stats on daily number of plays, likes, and comments. Videos can also be shared on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or via email or SMS straight from within the app.
Vimeo 1.0 for iOS is compatible with iPhone 4 or 3GS, iPod touch 4th generation, and iPad 2. It will work on devices running iOS 4.0 or newer.
