We didn't expect Microsoft's
first global update for Windows Phone 7 go off without a snag, but several owners of Samsung
WP7 devices are really regretting pushing the update button yesterday. The update has reportedly had trouble with the Omnia 7, resulting in bricked handsets or an updater which locks up before it completes. Microsoft is aware of the issues, and is currently working to resolve them.
There are also plenty of users reporting that the update still hasn't been offered -- including yours truly and blogger Manan Kakkar. If you've got a Windows Phone 7 device, how did your update experience go? Was it snag free, or or you now holding a very shiny doorstop?

I am not sure it is because many blogs need to have clicks to get revenue or because blogs do not bother to follow the facts...it is what I hate most about blogs. This issue is being over blown considering their are just as many users who are getting the update without issue.
Anyway, the phones are not "bricked" -- worst case you need to pull the battery and/or do a hard reset.
The update did not brick the phones. As someone who experience the phone, all I did was a hard reset, then connect to zune and I was back using my phone again. Also, with the Focus, it is older Firmware that is on some phones that should never have been released. AT&T is handling it and in my case, it was a simple reset and I was back in running.
This reminds of when the Kinect was about to be released and Microsoft was accused of discrimination because the Kinect did not work with dark colored skinned people -- that was also a myth.

I connected my Samsung Omnia 7 with Zune, started update process and went to sleep. When I woke up after an hour, it was Complete. Clicked on finish and it is working perfect. :) Just give it time guys :P
