Bad idea.
Don't do it unless you really trust the code.
And the developer.
The web site you are getting it from.
The person who recommended it.
That the package is confirmed to be untampered with.

I have done this once with the Mozilla Firefox beta but I have a very high level of trust in them... random games devs? Not so much.
