Apple's iPad subscription service and News Corp's Daily news app delayed
Rupert Murdoch and News Corp. planned to launch The Daily, an appropriately-named daily news subscription service for Apple's iPad, next week. Now the launch has been delayed "for weeks" because of a hold-up on Apple's end. The Wall Street Journal's All Things Digital (also owned by News Corp., coincidentally) says the app is ready, but a "push" subscription feature Apple has been building is still not done. The subscription service will make it possible for publications to auto-bill their subscribers, and have each issue delivered automatically to those customers' iPads. The Daily, which will reportedly cost 99 cents a week, will be the flagship for this new service, and other publications will certainly jump on board if the experiment is successful.
