Skype for Nokia N8, C7, C6-01 and E7 now available

Skype for Symbian screenshotSkype has released a new version of its mobile client for Symbian devices, which features improved call quality and support for smartphones running the new Symbian (formerly known as Symbian^3), such as the Nokia N8, C7, C6-01 and the soon-to-be-released Nokia E7.

The new Skype client includes SILK, Skype's high quality audio codec, to make sure that calls sound great even if you're on a low-bandwidth connection. This update also includes some improvements to the UI -- it's now easier to add contacts, add a photo to your profile, set a mood message, and navigate throughout the app. The UI also better fits larger screens now.

You can use Skype for Symbian to IM, make free Skype-to-Skype calls, call and text phone numbers via Skype's SkypeOut service and share pictures, videos and other files from your smartphone.

The new Skype for Symbian can be downloaded by pointing your Symbian device's browser to skype.com/m. A full list of compatible devices is available here.
