Twitter Tuesday: Twitter gets embedded media, Littlecosm Twitter-based game launches

First off, Twitter has just added embedded media to the new Twitter.com. Now you'll be able to play videos, music and movies from partner sites directly from #newtwitter. The partners for this announcement include YouTube, Flickr, Ustream and iTunes, amongst others.
For the whole list, check out the announcement on the official Twitter blog. The one I'm personally most excited about is Instagram. How about you?
A Preview of Littlecosm, the Twitter Client That's Also a Multiplayer Game
Littlecosm, a massively-multiplayer online game that's also a Twitter client, is slated to launch in January. For right now, though, we've got a new video from Littlecosm's creator that shows off Littlecosm's tweet display and a bit of the game. The Twitter client updates automatically, so you always have fresh tweets on the screen without reloading the page.More details about Littlecosm's gameplay have been released, too. We already knew that the tone of your tweets would affect whether you had a good or evil character, but now we know that day and night in the game are equivalent to day and night in your real life. Cool!

Twitter Not Censoring Discussion of Wikileaks
Twitter has been getting a lot of flak for removing WikiLeaks from the Trending Topics, with people assuming they did it under pressure from the US government and other forces that are out to stop the organization that released piles of American diplomatic secrets. The truth is much more benign: WikiLeaks has been such a consistent topic of discussion that it bumped itself out of the Trending Topics list. Twitter says that the trending algorithm captures new and hot topics, not topics that stay consistently hot for several days. You may remember the same thing happening to Justin Bieber last year, and Twitter was falsely accused of "censoring" Bieber fans, too.
TweetDeck, Hootsuite Hit New Chrome Web Store
The arrival of the new Chrome Web Store brings some Twitter Web apps that users of Chrome and Chrome OS can install. TweetDeck and Hootsuite, two apps that already have popular Web interfaces, are among the first to hit the Chrome store.
Weet Mac Beta Was Too Big To Wait Until Twitter Tuesday
I mentioned my excitement about the beta of Weet for Mac at the end of last week's column. Well, this slick little Twitter client for OS X has launched, and I couldn't wait until today to review it. Check out my Weet post if you're interested and missed it the first time around.... and that's your Twitter report for this Tuesday! As always, you can leave me your hot tips for next week in the comments, and I'll make sure to follow them up. See you next Tuesday!
