Seesmic 1.5 for Android gets prettier, adds beta support for Salesforce Chatter

Seesmic 1.5 for Android screenshotSeesmic for Android has received an update today which bumps the app to version 1.5. The social networking client has added beta support for Salesforce's Chatter service, which you can now use from Seesmic alongside Twitter and Google Buzz. The Salesforce Chatter integration lets you read your Chatter feed, comment, view groups, profiles (and you can call, email or see a person's address with one tap), post updates with attachments, and cross-post to and from Twitter and Google Buzz.

Also making its debut in version 1.5 is an improved UI -- which certainly makes the app look prettier, even if it does sacrifice a few vertical pixels compared to previous versions. The reload, compose, and search buttons are now always visible and not hidden away in the Menu, letting you easily take an action in the app with one tap.

The Composer has been revamped and features auto-complete support (which searches through both usernames and actual names, and kicks in once you write a letter after "@") and attachment management of photos and videos.

You can now change your Twitter avatar from within Seesmic for Android, and view full conversations once hitting the "in reply to" link in a tweet -- previously you had to hit "in reply to" for each tweet in a conversation. This will come in very handy for those who use Twitter for more than broadcasting their egos and also happen to use Seesmic for Android as their preferred client. Performance improvements have also made it into Seesmic 1.5, and on my slightly underpowered Android 2.1 device these are easily noticeable, especially in start-up and load/refresh times.

Despite all the nice feature additions, there's still no way to add people to (or remove them from) lists, and no way to report a tweet or a Twitter user as spam. These, however, are the only two shortcomings I can think of for this app, which is my mobile Twitter client of choice -- and therefore I really do recommend you at least try it, after all it is free.

Seesmic 1.5 for Android is now available in the Android Market.
