Yelp adds check-in offers
Yelp has updated its business owner dashboard today and added check-in offers to it. People have been using Yelp's check-in functionality to check in to businesses they go to for a long time now, and today's feature has the potential to incentivize them to check in using Yelp even more.Business owners that have a Yelp account can now reward their customers for checking in to their business. There are three different ways to reward patrons: a percent off purchases, freebies, or fixed price deals. Businesses can offer one check-in special at a time, and redeeming a reward requires customers to present a special mobile certificate showing that they've unlocked an offer.
Creating check-in offers is possible for business owners in the US, Canada, the UK and Ireland, provided they aren't plumbers, limousine drivers, locksmiths, or any other type of business that provides a service on the go, and not at a particular physical location.
The Yelp applications for iPhone and Android have been updated to support the new functionality (though the iPhone app may still be in the process of getting approved by Apple).
