60 Minutes launches iPad app

60 Minutes iPad appPopular news program 60 Minutes has just launched its very own iPad application, according to CBS News. This makes 60 Minutes the first prime-time news show to do so and the app blends video content with online features.

The new app offers high-quality video from the television broadcast as well as text versions of the program content -- including previews, segments, web extras and clips. There are also behind-the-scenes looks at the making of the stories that appear on the show and an archive of segments related to the week's headlines. You can search for stories (whether they're from the current or past seasons), search by correspondent's name, and browse segments by categories.

Watching video works over both Wi-Fi and 3G, and the quality is adjusted on-the-fly according to your connection type.

The 60 Minutes iPad app is available now in the iTunes App Store for $4.99.
