uTorrent 2.2 arrives with apps support, privacy features
Way back in May, uTorrent 's Project Griffin gave us a sneak peek at its new App Studio. Today, the new version has gone live -- and uTorrent 2.2 will be bringing app support to its 65 million users. Among the app options on launch day are BitDefender's Virus Guard, TuneUp (which we've covered before), and content apps for TED, ZuluMusic, and VODO. There's also TorrentTweet, which lets you post status updates about specific files. On the privacy side of things, uTorrent 2.2 makes it easier for users to configure and use proxies -- a welcome improvement for those of you looking for a bit of anonymity while you transfer files.
The uTorrent installer -- like many other free apps -- also includes a bundled toolbar and offers to switch your homepage and default search at the end of the process. Make sure you untick the boxes unless you actually want what's being offered.

I'm confused. I use "BitTorrent" and it is exactly the same as this "uTorrent" I updated more than a month ago and had these Apps available then?

That's because BitTorrent bought uTorrent and started using it as it's app, check out screenshots of the original BitTorrent.

BitTorrent is uTorrent now. you were probably using the beta.
glad this is finally available. installed over previous version of uTorrent seamlessly. all my active torrents and preferences were kept.

this is horrible! uTorrent will become bloated as bitTorrent is
I tried all these apps and they are worthless (most of them not all)
you need the skins one to get rid of the ugly

If nobody else has figured out by now, uTorrent is no longer the torrenting client of choice, especially true now with this bloated kind of shit. Use a REAL client that isn't blocked by most of the trackers on the internet like BitTornado.

Do you even look at the peers? uTorrent is the leader in torrenting software like it or not. Lucky for us that it is pretty good and free.

Thanks for mentioning BitDefender - I'm the community manager for BitDefender so if anyone has any questions, I'm available.
Look forward to the discussions!
