Muji launches calendar, notepad and travel apps for the iPhone and iPad

Muji iOS apps

iOS apps are, perhaps, not the first thing you think about when Muji's concerned, but the modernist homeware and clothing brand has launched three iPad apps, two free, one paid for, and a Japanese-language only iPhone apparel catalog app. We'll start with the iPad apps.

Muji Calendar

Muji Calendar

Although the iPad comes with a calendar app built-in, Muji thinks it can do better. In their words, 'MUJI's scheduler for iPad is so instinctive and smooth to use that it becomes part of your life before you realize it'. It'll sync your calendar with Google, and there's all the usual calendar refinements you might expect, including day, week, month or year view. You can also search for calendar events, and there's a little Muji suitcase that rolls along the top in response to the accelerometer, but there's no landscape support at all. So, nothing special here. One for die hard Muji fans. Still it is free.

Muji to Go

MujitoGo

As the name suggests, Muji to Go focuses on travel, providing a few handy tools that a holiday-maker might need. You've got a world clock, with customizable display of times in cities across the globe, five-day weather reports, a nifty international power plug guide, a currency converter and calculator, plus a Web search powered by Google. Again you've also got the cute little Muji suitcase that flies across the top of your screen, and unlike Muji Calendar, the app actually provides useful features you don't get natively on the iPad. It's also free, so probably worth having on your iPad if you're due to travel anywhere.

Muji Notepad

Muji Notepad

This one will set you back $4, but features 'advanced handwriting recognition.' It is indeed a notepad, allowing freehand and typed text input, as well as handwriting recognition and various pen colors and thicknesses for drawing. You can even choose between four types of virtual paper: ruled, gridded, quadrant, and plain. Images and PDF files can also be imported for annotation, while the finished product can be exported as an image file. Yours for $3.99.

Muji Apparel Catalog

Muji Apparel

One for our Japanese readers -- Muji's iPhone app lets you locate stores in Japan and view clothing collections from Muji. It's free, and in Japanese, but apart from that doesn't do a whole lot.

If you're interested in any of the above apps, more information can be found on Muji's App website, or downloaded from the App Store.
