Flickr adds Google accounts to sign-in options, plans better OpenID support

Flickr Google account sign inStarting today, signing up for Flickr is possible using Google accounts. This feature is rolling out as part of a new push from Flickr to support OpenID. Google is the first partner, but support for more services is expected in the future.

Up until now, Yahoo-owned Flickr required a Yahoo ID to use. As you can see in the screenshot to the right, this is now also possible using an existing Google account. For now, Google accounts are supported only for those who are new to Flickr. Existing users will also get some enhancements to the sign-in experience, starting with the ability to sign in from any page on Flickr.
