Ever since Amazon
launched its Kindle app for the iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry and Android, it's been clear that
America's largest e-tailer is all about spreading itself across as many platforms as possible. For an online retailer this makes perfect sense: the more people that are introduced to your store, the more potential customers you've got. To that end, Amazon recently released an iPad-optimized app for browsing its online store called
Windowshop, which sadly at the time of writing is only available in the US iTunes store.
As a shopping experience, it's actually quite good, with searching, categorizing and buying things made increadibly easy -- almost too easy in fact. Hats off to Amazon, it certainly knows how to make browsing and buying products from the couch a compelling experience.

No, this doesn't make a great shopping experience. EASY, sure; great - no way. You just buy straight from amazon, no checking prices through froogle/ebay, no checking retailmenot for coupons, just direct and mindless spending. The perfect consumer. Gearing this at iPadders is probably the best direction.
