Windows 8 release in 2012 hinted at by Microsoft Netherlands

The final paragraph of the post is where the juicy bit is hiding -- even if you don't read Dutch you can certainly see Windows 8. While the text translated somewhat awkwardly in Google Translate (and just about every other online translator we tried), and it rendered a somewhat odd-sounding English rendition, we were able to track down a Dutch-speaking human for assistance.
The result: "But it will take about two years before Windows 8 will be for sale."
Anyone else picture Ballmer shouting, "Who's the GOLD MASTER?!" while he holds that disk?
Thanks, Rahul!

I am Dutch and was amazed by this post on the Dutch website (hadn't seen it before). I had to check to verify it is really Microsoft's website, as there are two glaring grammatical errors right in the first paragraph and I wouldn't expect these in an official Windows communication. Perhaps some intern having some fun? :)

Not exactly news as it was already announced at the 2009 Professional Developers Conference, as well as other times. Not to mention a new version is almost always released every 3 years.

And if history has shown us anything it'll be a flop. MS seems to work in cycles of good and bad like that.

End of the world? What?..according to the Mayan calender?
Lee MathewsOct 24th 2010 1:32PM
No need to panic, the Mayans didn't have Windows. I think they mostly ran FreeBSD or something...
AliOct 24th 2010 2:24PM
Sure, they didn't have Windows, but they used its ancestor ,"Holes (TM)", every bit as awesome and error-prone as Windows.
