Google Chrome 8 to hit beta channel by next week
Google Chrome is all about speed -- even its development cycle. It's only been two weeks since Chromium was bumped to version 8, and they're already trying to close the v7 Beta book and deliver the next version.Google's Jason Kersey put out a call to the Chromium-dev group for developers to begin wrapping things up. The goal: push Chrome 8 to the beta channel by next week. He goes on to ask the team to zero in on blocker bugs so that they can be resolved quickly.
With the list of release blockers down to less than two dozen, it seems likely that Google Chrome 8 will indeed hit the beta channel next week. Bugs with Hotmail attachment downloading, Facebook uploads, and WAV file playback are among the bugs which need resolving, but the Chrome team has already proven that they're able to keep up with the new schedule.

Does anyone actually use the regular versions of chrome? Everyone I know uses Dev or Canary.

I dunno. I usually use canary or always updated Chromium haha

I'm running Beta and Canary. In theory, I keep Beta for day-to-day use and Canary for experimenting, but I find myself using Canary more often than Beta!
Stable would be what I'd put on my parents' computers.

Most "normal" people that I recommend Google Chrome, I tell them to install the stable version. For the wiser than normal peoples, the beta does the job.
Personally, I like the dev, works great, fast, and almost bleeding edge.
