Microsoft Security Essentials now officially offers free antivirus protection for small businesses

The change took place yesterday, so if you're looking after the IT needs of a business (or businesses) with 10 Windows computers or less, you can now install Microsoft Security Essentials in good conscience. It's every bit as capable as the big-name paid antivirus apps, and it's even better than some (we're looking at you, McAfee).

Ah McAfee...the $#!^ anti-virus software that's also known by computer support personal as Make A Fee. As in, this is part of the reason why I was brought in.
This is great news. It also means lots of conversions, as people who run home offices flock to it.

I've been using MSE on my home computer (which I also use daily for work) and it's been fantastic. I used to use Spybot S&D with AVG for free protection. MSE's overall memory usage is lower and I've had no infections, spyware, or malware since installing it almost a year ago.
While researching MSE's effectiveness, it became clear that it has the best automatic detection of any of the free AV/malware utilities. Since most people don't run full scans often enough (or at all...), this will make it more effective for most people.
To speed it up a bit more, I went into the settings and added exceptions for program .exe's that are not at risk - my video editing software, defrag utility, etc. This eliminated the few minor lags that I was seeing when launching or using these programs.
