New Apple TV now available in UK Apple retail stores

There's no evidence of a LoveFilm streaming link at the moment, but we're not giving up hope of a deal in the near future. For the meantime, UK Apple TV users are limited to movie rentals and TV purchases direct from iTunes, or streaming iTunes-compatible media you happen to have on your computer.

How can this possibly be branded as a "T.V" when it is limited to streaming rented movies and old T.V series?

If you've got a US iTunes account it is possible to login to it using the Apple TV from the UK. I wish we had 59p TV show rentals in the UK store though, it would certainly remove any temptation of piracy and help lots of people ditch Sky/Virgin. Don't think it'll ever happen mind you.

How? I've just bought a UK Apple TV (living in the UK temporarily) and have a US iTunes account. The Apple TV won't let me stream from my computer / account let alone buy new programs. Any thoughts?

Change your location to United States rather than UK and use a US iTunes account. Streaming from your computer is handled via home sharing, so you have to activate it in iTunes using your iTunes ID and login to home sharing on your Apple TV using the same ID.
