How to uninstall Internet Explorer 9

Maybe you've seen enough of the Internet Explorer 9 beta for now -- you just wanted a taste, but you'd rather not use a beta browser on a day-to-day basis. Maybe you just want to know how to uninstall it because other people are going to ask you how to do it. Unlike most other programs on your computer, however, you won't find IE9 listed on the Uninstall or change a program screen.
That's because Internet Explorer 9 installs as a Windows update. Here's what you need to do to uninstall IE9 on Windows Vista or Windows 7:

The IE9 uninstall is clean. No problems with any system files. The IE9 settings stay the same in IE8.

Is it just me or IE9 makes Windows Live Writer sluggish? I uninstalled IE9 and everything returned to normal, so it has to be IE9. Just wondering if anybody else had a similar issues.

Well, messenger seems to have at least some dependency on IE, so it's possible other windows live stuff also uses some parts of IE.

I too had problems with IE9 it made my computer slow and it would crash when was in the middle of doing some thing. Also I could not do certain downloads. Even worse I could not even uninstall it through the uninstall updates menu as it would not uninstall. So I had to do a recovery to set my laptop back to a time before IE9 was installed to get it off my computer, which thankfully I did. But I have since uninstalled IE including IE8 completely on my Windows 7 laptop by deleting the IE file on my computer hard drive in programs. After changing the ownership of that file from trusted Installer to my name I was able to delete the whole file using a tool called Unlocker, which I downloaded from the Internet. And it worked and now IE is gone forever from my system but my computer is un affected as I only deleted the browser. and whats interesting is my Green browser and Avant browser that people think are IE based are working good without IE. But this method of unintalling IE removes it permanently from the system and so Ie will never work aagain . Not even if you try to install it as you just get a blank file.which you can then also delete. But I don't regret removing IE as I have much better browser than that and if Mac computers can function without IE,why not windows? And also on a Mac you can remove Safari which is the browser they have that is bundled with some of their system and this does not effect their computers. So it should be the same with Windows, that is having IE should be optional, not mandatory. Andrea Borman.

Just out of curiosity, this uninstall process will return things to IE8? Is that correct?

Yes, the instructions worked great for me. IE8 is working like before.

I uninstalled quickly after installing it. I just couldn't get it to work with Visual Studio while debugging... didn't seem to like localhost ?!?

As a part of trying to figure out why my browser slows or locks up after a few regular page accesses, I deleted AOL 9.0. Nothing changed. Even a direct link to IE9(not via AOL) locks up the same way.
So If I delete IE9, which I assume I got with aol 9.5, what do I have left?
And btw, my think my 9.5 worked fine until I added AIM, but the problem persists even if I don't run AIM now.

I can't speak specifically about AOL 9.5, but I don't think IE9 is being shipped with any other software right now -- you can only get it from Microsoft while it's in beta.
My guess is that you have two separate issues.

Thank you for your precious advice, I did exactly the way it was instructed, but IE 9 persists in showing its presence on my computer. I uninstalled the IE 9 but I got a message stating that the Uninstall operation was not successful. I'd greatly appreciate if you have any other suggestions to help me get rid of this IE9.

Unable to uninstall IE9, GOOGLE PHONE doesn't work anymore, another nuisance I've just found out from that IE9. Just to share the information with everyone.

if u have run into a real problem with ie9 and if u have deleted all the files and then tried downloading ie9 from net and found a pesky messaging stating that u already have the latest ie9 on your pc then u do the final thing u do to get rid of bill the pesky eunuch who is such a stricken kitten. before bill raises his petticoat and shows u his non-existing genitalia u close the window on him and pull down the shades. u then wish u were not here today but u want to go back to yesterday and forget your adventures of today. yes...u want to go back to yesterday and forget pesky inconfident eunuch bill and u wanna restore yor troubled mind to yesterday. u do a 'system restore' on your precious laptop or desktop which the mickeys think they own...
