Paste copied text without formatting in Google Chrome
It's happened to pretty much everyone who uses copy and paste. You find some text on the Web, which just happens to be huge, bold, and a color you wouldn't even want on your argyle socks. You highlight, copy, and paste it into a new email message to share with a chum and the ugliness transfers.
If only there was a solution -- like some sort of hotkey combo that would automatically strip the formatting for you.
The Google Chrome team feels your pain, and they've responded. Chrome can now do exactly that. Instead of using Ctrl+V to paste, press Ctrl+Shift+V to insert your text without retaining the original formatting. Mac users have to perform the slightly more acrobatic Command+Shift+Option+V.
The new paste feature is yet another small-but-welcome addition to Chrome, and one that I'm sure I'll use frequently.

There's a chrome extension that gives you a small icon to click to copy-and-paste w/o formatting when you highlight text.

To quote them:
- Use your keyboard: press a customizable keyboard shortcut (Default to Ctrl+Shift+C).
- Use your mouse: click on a floating button which will appear after you select something in Chrome.
- Auto-Copy (off by default): the selected text will be automatically copied to clipboard (unformatted) as soon as you release your mouse and finish the selection.

I use PureText, which gives me the Win-V shortcut (customisable) to paste unformatted text into any application I wish.
Yes you could just open notepad, paste it, select all, copy it and then paste it into the application you're using but at 29KB, this is a far quicker, easier and very light solution.

More useful surely would be Ctrl + Shift + C allowing you to *copy* unformatted text (although this key combo is already in use).

Um, this is not a "new addition." It's been around for as long as I've been using Chrome, which is I think 2 years now.
Agree that ctrl+shift+c would be great. You can get an extension to do it, but who has time for that?

Microsoft Office products have had this for ages, no? Including Outlook.
I always paste in their apps using CTRL + ALT + V, which kicks in the Paste Special box, with a load of paste options, including "unformatted text".
