Me (to my 9 year old daughter who bought her first iPod) - Honey, this music that you're listening to is not good (I can't say "crap" to my 9yo daughter.)
Her: Why? I like it.
Me: Because it's not real. Some girl goes into a studio where the song has been written for her, she sings off-key and an engineer uses computers to "fix" her voice so that it is in tune. She's only in the studio because she looks cute in music videos. Do you get it?
Her: Oh. Well, then I'll listen to Selena Gomez instead.
Me: UGGGGGhhh.
