FilerFrog adds loads of useful actions to your Windows context menu
Want a way to put dozens of handy commands within two-click reach? Download FilerFrog and bolt it on to your context menu, and you'll have a wide array of new tools available via your right mouse button as you browse your files and folders in Explorer.
Unlike some context menu multi-tools, FilerFrog installs only a single item on the top level of the context menu -- everything else is tucked neatly into submenus. So what can FillerFrog do?
Unlike some context menu multi-tools, FilerFrog installs only a single item on the top level of the context menu -- everything else is tucked neatly into submenus. So what can FillerFrog do?
- print directory contents
- extract, split, and join files
- move files up one level or to a recently accessed folder
- copy the current path to the clipboard
- resize images and swap formats
- encrypt and decrypt files
- quickly jump to favorite folders
- perform bulk file renames
It's a nice assortment of tools in a single package, and it's not cluttering up my context menu the way some apps I've tested do. While I don't need most of these commands on a regular basis, I do like knowing that they're easy to get at when I do need them.
FilerFrog installers are available for both 32 and 64-bit Windows versions of Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.

You wrote FillerFrog throughout that article (including the title) when it's called FilerFrog (even the screenshot you posted says FilterFrog correctly :P).

(Maxwell Smart voice) Would you believe my 'l' key was stuck? Only when typing Filer, interestingly enough... ;)

I downloaded FilerFrog fro Win 7 64 bit. I installed same. Rebooted when prompted. The program did NOTHING but add an update entry and a help entry to my start menu. It did not install itself to the context menus, nor does it seem to have any way to do so. It has no running processes or services. I uninstalled and repeated all of the above steps, with the same results. As far as I can see, the program does absolutely nothing, but does it quite well.

David -- the screenshot above is from my Windows 7 x64 system, and without even rebooting. It definitely worked on my machine...possibly you have some conflicting software?
ct davidSep 1st 2010 2:40PM
Possibly, but I have no idea what that software might be. I read the FAQ page at their site and it offered no help. With any luck, someone from their company will be reading this and will offer some suggestions, since their support is strictly limited to those who have paid for the product. That is certainly their right, but I am not paying for a product that doesn't work, out of the box, just to find out why.

@ Ct David, right click on a folder or image. If you just right click on the desktop it only gives you a sort desktop option. Took me a minute to figure out.
See if that works for you.
I have no idea how to add a favorite folder though, as the favorites context menu only give you favorite filerfrog commands and not locations....
ct davidSep 3rd 2010 10:30AM
Nope. No new icons. no nothing. No new processes no new applications. The program does absolutely nothing.
Lee MathewsSep 3rd 2010 10:31AM
What you mean to say is "the program didn't do anything on my system."
It does work. I don't write up apps like this without trying them. If it didn't work on my system, you would either 1) not read about it here or 2) read about why it's not worth installing.
You may need to dig deeper into your system to find out why it's not working...
Lee MathewsSep 3rd 2010 6:49PM
Just asking to be sure -- definitely grabbed the x64 version? I know I've had 32-bit context menu enhancements fail on my x64 system before, that's why I ask.
Other than that...Shoot, you've got me stumped -- I'll send a note to the developers as well and see if we can't get you an answer!

I love how they chose to make a menu rather than just add all of that in there.
ct davidSep 3rd 2010 8:10PM
Lee- You are absolutely correct. And that IS what I meant. I just short-handed it and assumed people would know what I mean. On the other hand, I have uninstalled and re-installed the program, and have gotten no new results. I have also sent an email to the program's authors, and have not gotten any feedback. That is all kind of frustrating, especially since it looks like the program could be very useful.
I don't know where else to dig. I am not running anything that I would consider unusual. I have Avast and MSE running in the background. I think others do as well, so I have ruled those out. The program just doesn't do ANYTHING on my machine. Nothing good and interestingly, nothing bad.

FYI - On my Windows 7 x64 install FilerFrog caused an awful lot of grief for explorer. Shell Context items didn't play nice. Never ending hangs of explorer.exe until I un-installed it. Pity had some nice functionality.

Just as an update- I installed this program this morning, at work, on another machine also running Win 7 64-bit. I got exactly the same results as I got on the first machine: No processes, no applications, no services, no new context menu entries. In short, again the program, for me, does absolutely nothing. I also have not received any reply from it's publishers, but it was a 3 day holiday weekend. The 2nd machine is set up entirely differently from the first, as it is a work machine and not a personal machine. Nevertheless.........

Installed 2 times in windows 7 pro and it doesn't work. I also went to their site and didn't get any help there. Looks like something I would use a lot but what good is it if it don't work. No frog on my dialog box with any additional options. Otta hear. :-)
carlemiSep 9th 2010 12:11PM
try this:uninstal the soft, when prompt repair or uninstal give it to repair and restart. on my machine with win 7 pro 32 bit work fine after the first attempt with 0 result
ct davidSep 14th 2010 6:31PM
Carlemi- I would follow that suggestion, but I have NO uninstall option in my Start Menu or in Add/Remove. As I have said, this program, on my machines, litterally does absolutely nothing, except add an Update Filerfrog item to my Start Menu. So I cannot uninstall it.
ct davidSep 14th 2010 6:31PM
To the filerfrog folks- who just now responded after 2 weeks: Ummmm, why would I do that again? For one, I already sent you guys an email and got no response until today, and no response to my email at all. For two, I have described, in detail, the entire problem, right here. No need to do it again. And for three, others might just be having the same problem (See Lyle Hensley's post). So maybe you could discuss here, in an open forum? Save us all some time? And respect the time we have already spent?

Working great for me on Windows 7 x64.
