Chromium hits version 7

Get ready, Google Chrome users -- version 7 is now a little more official, with Chromium's snapshot builds making the leap today.
While the number has changed, I didn't notice any significant changes at first glance -- other than a broken sync window which was totally blank (and will no doubt be fixed immediately). Google's accelerated release schedule for Chrome means you're likely going to see version bumps more frequently. Anyone want to place bets on where we'll be at this time next year? 9? 10?
Chrome's dev channel will likely be bumped in the coming days. If you want to make the jump now, grab a Chromium snapshot build.

So it going to go from Google Chrome 5 to Google Chrome 7?

Doubtful. Chrome was at v5. Dev builds were at v6. Now dev is at v7. Chrome will likely move to v6 soon.

I'm having a little trouble keeping up with Google's number game.

This is stupid.

Well, no surprise there. There shouldn't be any changes. Google just increased the version number from 6 to 7 on Chromium. They didn't do anything else. They changed a number. And now the work for what'll end up in Google Chrome 7 begins... Which will be released in a few months.
I don't understand why people so commonly get confused by this! You aren't looking at Google Chrome Final, you're looking at Chromium. Chromium! They changed the number to 7 so that they can start working on it now, just days ago. Of course there are no new features. These will come the forthcoming months. Then Chrome 7 is released, and Google start working on Chrome 8. By *first* bumping the version number.

Easy, Jonas -- I didn't *expect* to see anything major, I was just letting people know. ;)
