Snow Transformation Pack makes your Windows 7 PC look like it's running OS X
I'm pretty happy with the way Windows 7 looks out of the box. The vast majority of our readers seem to like the new look, too -- especially the fact that it's highly customizable. But suppose you want to do more than play with sliders to adjust the hue and opacity? Suppose you want to drape a Mac's gray-and-purple cloak over your desktop?
Take a look at Snow Transformation Pack. It's one of the most faithful, complete OS X skins I've ever seen and it's a breeze to install. Just download the pack, install it, and two reboots (one is required to disable UAC, another to load modified system files) later your Windows desktop looks remarkably similar to a real Mac running Snow Leopard.
Despite the visual overhaul, you won't lose any functionality. As you can see, taskbar thumbnails still work just fine (as do jump lists) and you can still rearrange icons to your heart's content. Window controls (minimize/restore/maximize) remain on the right -- where you're used to seeing them on your Windows system.
STP even skins Internet Explorer to look a bit like Safari, and the familiar OS X style dock is included as well -- courtesy of RK Launcher. There's even a stacks docklet included, which is one of my favorite features of the OS X dock.
I tested the Snow Transformation Pack on a netbook running 32-bit Windows 7 Starter, but reports from other reviewers seem to indicate that it will run on 64-bit installs as well. If you give it a try, share your thoughts with us in the comments!

Never understood trying to make Windows look like a Mac / Linux. But whatever floats your boat I suppose ;-)

How bloated is this float?

Why in the world would I use this boring grey user interface if I have Windows 7 Aero??
krazymanAug 16th 2010 9:58AM
I could see using this if you had one of the basic versions of windows which do not enable aero. Otherwise I will stick with be basic windows look.

I used to want to completely overhaul the interface with Windows XP. But I like the way Windows 7 looks. My thing is, if you want one OS to look like another, go use the other OS.

Why would I want this?
Lee MathewsAug 16th 2010 10:40AM
When you ask a question like that, Bryan, I think you've already answered it.
_YOU_ probably don't want this. Other people, however, might.

If I wanted to look like I'm running Snow leopard, I'd be running Snow leopard. It really isn't that hard to do, I've done it. And the same could be said for trying to make Snow leopard look like Windows 7.

Some people like the functionality of Windows, but they like the GUI of a Mac.

Well, I see I'm not alone. It certainly is a cool achievement, but I'm not really for making Windows look like Mac. And Windows 7 looks awesome already. Is the Mac skin just as customizable? Will the slide show wallpaper still work with this skin?

I have used this transformation pack. And you know, i had to reformat all OS and again installed windows 7. So guys don't download and install it. It will crash your data and system. "Beauty is always remain in originality and simplicity- windows 7 is beautiful- don't make-up it"
Thanks

I rather want the other way round. I'm sick of the mac desktop and it's crawling speed. At least if I change the look I would feel at home. Windows 7 is awesome.

I recommend not installing this. It does not uninstall cleanly.

WHY?
WHY?
WHY?
pristy.siteAug 17th 2010 10:29AM
Yeah right, give more brake to OS.

Not sure why I'd want my sweet new Windows 7 to look like the boring and dated design of OSX?
slemmesmiAug 20th 2010 9:58AM
Well this is TRULY MAC OS X style - first thing it does is disabling AUC ;o)
The "true MAC OS X feeling" includes running with less security...
Joy!

at the end you will end with an inconsistent, non-windows, non-osx mutation of an OS. If you like SnoLeo, do install it. If you like Win7, do install it.
