Write Attack! uses tough love to break through your writer's block
Write Attack! is a very neat writing tool. You set a timer for your session and specify how many words you'd like to write.
Once you write the first ten words, the timer starts counting back. You now have X number of minutes to make that target and write as many words as you decided to write. While the timer is running, you cannot save your file, and you can't copy your text elsewhere. It's just you and your text spending some quality time together (and the distracting animated mascot in the top right corner).
If you fail to reach your word count before the timer runs out, your text is toast. Yup, ... it's all gone, deleted, no backup. That makes for some strong motivation for you to get to your target.
Of course, if you're really desperate, you can always just start randomly mashing on the keyboard to make it count words before the time runs out. If that's what you want to do, though, you might as well use Notepad.
If you need a bit of a push to write, Write Attack! can certainly be an interesting experiment (as long as you play by the rules and avoid setting impossible targets).

that is how we get the "literature" printed nowadays, that is what "literature" printed nowadays feels looks tastes smells and sounds: timed out.

You're thinking inside the box a little. I figure this is meant more for practice writing. I think it could be good for those times of freewriting periods because, I don't know if this is true for other writers, but when I start writing my stories I get so involved in it that I can be writing all day and night. Even though I really dislike the concept of time, it is more of a restraint than anything, sometimes we need a timer so we don't forget things .... like eating. I once started writing a story at 3pm and didn't stop until 8am the next morning. I had a big bottle of water on the table but absolutely no food. I forgot to eat; I hadn't even eaten my first meal because I told myself I'd just write a little and than eat.
I know what you're thinking, what about a real timer, well I have a habit of ignoring things while inside my head/world. I can ignore everything. The saints could come marching in and I wouldn't even notice the number. This would be a great way to snap me out of it by having my screen, where I'm writing, explode on me.

I was thinking I could just save it as a screen shot if needed but I suppose mashing the keyboard is much easier!

I was excited about this app, but it turns out Dr.Wicked is better, especially since, in Write Attack, my screen won't blow up anymore when I don't reach the targets.
