Google Chrome Web app support continues taking shape -- here comes sync!

Google is clearly entering the home stretch in the race to deliver app support in Google Chrome. Just last week, Chromium snapshot builds and Chrome Canary started supporting apps by default. Last night another change landed in the source code which brings full-blown app support closer to reality.
Like your extensions (and everything else which makes your Chrome install yours), installed Chrome apps will follow you across all your installs. The plumbing for app sync has already landed but is not yet active. There's really no reason for it to be at this point -- the Web Store isn't open yet and Canary is the only Chrome version with app support by default. As with extensions, expect Chrome to only sync those extensions that were downloaded from the Web Store.
While I'm willing to bet the Store will be open soon, we don't really have any clues as to when that might be. Well, at least not anything more precise than "before Chrome OS tablets wind up on retail shelves."

Why are those icons so huge??

Just curious if anyone else noticed their custom web app icon thumbnails disappearing from their start page?
Just opened up chrome (canary build) this morning, and the icons were gone, but the links still work. The only icon that shows up is the Chrome Web Store. Also tried the drop-down option "Restore all Removed Thumbnails" to no avail.

@Lucian. Which? On the new tab page? If so, I do agree that they're a tad jumbo-large.
@Lee. Is that a Super Mario Bros. Gmail theme?!? I failed to find it in Settings>Themes. Where can I score it? I fancy my ninjas theme quite a bit; on the other hand, I'm really curious to try out this new (to me) theme.
Web apps - I miss the full functionality in the dev build and am stoked for them to be back on by default. It may seem finicky, but I really like the devoted, bigger tab/app look (the icon region), and I especially love the hidden tool bar. On the other hand, I would love to have an option to quickly bring down the toolbar with alt+d.
Is a drop-down tool bar under development for web apps?

He's using the High Score theme. Should be there by default in your Gmail themes.

Apps tabs, that should be interesting, but Google will decide what qualify as app tab or is this just for Google web apps. Web app may not have address bar that's the only difference. Why not just use Pin Tab...

Is it possible to get the app tabs in the current Chromium builds to have the shorter tabs as seen in the screenshot? This seems to have been disabled in the current builds.

@Renzatic. Thanks, found it!
