Well, actually I started thinking about porting the above extension for Firefox... So it will probably come at some point, cannot yet predict when, maybe there are problems on the way, you never know. Also, sorry to say, but Firefox's extension system is a little more intimidating :-)

When I used FF I had New Tab King (http://www.newtabking.com/)... I am not sure if this is what you are looking for, but does a lot of cool stuff for a start page.

For Chrome I have Speed Dial, because Chrome's start page lacks some features ( besides, I now have the DS official speed dial! ^_^ )
