Firefox 4 Beta 2 is out, now with App Tabs and tabs on top for Mac
Firefox 4 Beta 2 was just released, and you can grab it from the Beta page.
Every tab now has a "Make into App Tab" command in the context menu, which shrinks the tab down to just the favicon and puts it on the leftmost position (similar to Chrome's pin tab feature). Also, tabs on top have arrived in the Mac version. I couldn't test it myself – share your thoughts in the comments, Mac users!
Mozilla made a snazzy video showing App Tabs, which you can watch after the jump.

It's a shame I just switched over to desktop email apps.

Do I need to completely download it/uninstall beta 1/install beta 2 or can I upgrade thru an update? (i am not at my home pc at the moment)

You can do it trough update :)
Btw: retained layers are bigger thing than App Tabs for me.
It improves scrolling on complex websites and fixed backgrounds.

Well... As for me - App Tabs just don't work.
When I close FF and open it again - they're gone.

Same. Made some app tabs and they are gone the next opened instance. Is there some magic trick to save them for every open?

Like I sad. That is not working and it will be in future betas.

Hmm, just installed it alongside 3.6.7 on my Mac. The tabs on top are nice, but I don't think it's implementation is a good as Chrome's when comparing them side-by-side. The other changes from b1>b2 are most welcome though.

At least hey fixed the phantom dock icon when visiting a page with flash.
Only problem I see is that if you open a save dialog box, the unified titlebar breaks.

All in all Firefox 4 Beta looks amazing.
Is there any way to make it run if i have my earlier Addons installed already ?
I mean despite disabling all my Addons via safe mode it still gives error in normal mode while trying to run firefox.
The adding a new boolean entry doesn't solve it.

The tabs seem to eat up a lot of space on screen. I wish the tabs would line up (to the right) of the 3 window buttons (red, yellow, & green) at the top of the OS X window. Anyone know if that is a violation of some Apple developer rule to do it that way?
