Microsoft still selling more than 7 copies of Windows 7 per second
Microsoft just reported its quarterly earnings, and things are looking pretty good. The official Windows Blog reports that Windows 7 has hit 175 million licenses sold, which adds up to more than 7 copies EVERY SECOND since release. Wow! Looking at the overall picture, that means 16% of the world's personal computers are now running Windows 7 (and maybe more, if you account for illegal copies).
Microsoft is also excited that businesses -- the one market where Windows still thoroughly blows Apple away -- are buying new computers (and thus new Windows licenses) at a faster rate than ever. MS posted double-digit growth in business license sales this quarter.
I don't want to bring IE6 into this, but all these Windows 7 sales in the corporate world must mean an upgrade to the IE8 that comes with Windows 7, right? I sure hope so!

I got to agree - that's a LOT of licenses sold for Windows 7.

Grrr. I can't wait for my job to finally put 7 in our machines. I'm cool with Vista Enterprise, but dammit I want my upgrade too. =(

I work for a small business where I do the IT work, and next week I'm switching everyone over to Win7 Pro.

The illegal copies are complete shit. My friend uses one and its buggy like you would never believe.

Your friend needs to learn how to use piratebay if his "illegal copy" is "buggy".

In unrelated news pc manufactures say they have shipped nearly 175 million pcs since Win 7 launched.
Really, great os but if you have to buy a copy with a new machine then these numbers mean jack.

Nobody HAS to buy a machine with Windows. There's also something called Linux out there and something called a Mac. I'd say that those numbers are a lot more impressive than Apple's, where one TRULY has to buy a machine w/ their OS.
