The best Google Reader mod becomes a Safari extension
My favorite userstyle for Google Reader is Snow Leopard. It uses space much more efficiently and looks much prettier than Reader's default UI. In fact, I like it so much that it's become weird to see the default skin.
Now there's good news for anyone else who likes Snow Leopard as much as I do: the Snow Leopard userstyle is now available as a Safari extension for Safari 5!
Of course, you can still install Snow Leopard as a userscript in older versions of Safari, provided you've got Greasekit. It's just a lot easier to do it the new way. Plus, the extension fixes some UI elements that looked weird in the userstyle after the latest updates to Reader. If you're a frequent Google Reader user, definitely check it out.

you can get something similar in chrome too, though the Google Redesigned skin for FF by globex is hands down the prettiest, surely ;)

This is great news except Safari has been booting me off Google's services as if the cookies were deleted 2m into the session. Anyone have any ideas? I've reset the browser and made sure I wasn't in a private session.

Another great Google Reader userstyle/extensions for Chrome is called Sublime Reader. Check it out here: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/jbhkdhkngalchoobjfiobbjobnbpfgmg?hl=en
