That Firefox iPhone app we showed you: official screencast, coming next month
About a week ago, our own Nik Fletcher compiled that mysterious Mozilla iPhone app they had mentioned back in October of 2009. As it turns out, Mozilla was apparently just about ready to show off the app -- dubbed Firefox Home -- on their official blog. What you'll see in the 32-second screencast is just about the same experience Nik presented in still images. Functionality-wise, things look pretty much the same as they did last week. The GUI still needs finalizing as well, as those placeholder barcodes and the rather Spartan settings page remain unchanged as well.
There's no word from Mozilla yet as to precisely when the app will be submitted to Apple, though the timeline on the Firefox Home wiki page seems to be aiming for some time next month.

From the video it looks like when you select a link, it opens the page inside the app using an embedded version of the webkit browser - similar to the Facebook app.
However the problem with the Facebook app is that it doesn't have some of the functionality that the standard browser has. So much so that I'd far rather it just opened the page directly into Safari.
Does anyone know what the deal will be here?

Nik says it does open internally (embedded Webkit).

Looks like crap. Just UITabBar with giant buttons. UINavigationBar for nothing... A browser should look different than an iPhone app. Something like Opera....
