Google Voice now giving priority invites to students (in the U.S., anyway)

Got an .edu email address? Wish you had access to Google Voice?

Well, you're in luck. Google has just announced that they're making "priority invites" available to students -- as long as they're in the U.S... not that you'd know it from the landing page, though: it's not mentioned anywhere. The official announcement does spell it out, of course, but that's the kind of thing you might want to mention when people head over to request an invite.

It's one invite per email address, and you'll apparently get a response within 24 hours. There's also no mention of a limit, but you'd do well to act quickly if you want in.

As for those of us in other parts of the world (other countries have students too!), we'll have to keep watching from the sidelines for now. Damn you, geographic restrictions!
