Valve's Steam gaming service rolls out Mac version, with free Portal!
Mac gaming comrades, the day is upon us! Valve's awesome Steam gaming service has arrived on OS X, allowing Mac game junkies to finally play titles like Portal without running Boot Camp or setting up a Windows partition. You can grab the Mac client from steampowered.com and start downloading games right away.
Steam's Mac library is kicking off with Valve's own Portal -- available for free until May 24th! -- Sid Meier's Civilization IV, and Runic Games' highly-acclaimed Torchlight. More titles will be added each week, including Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead 2. Also, Portal 2 will launch simultaneously on the Mac and PC versions of Steam. Beyond that, the selection of upcoming games is only speculation at this point.

If I grab portal game now, will I can play this game after May 24th or not?

If that translates as "If I grab it free now but don't play it right away, can I keep playing after May 24th?" then the answer is Yes. The opportunity to get it expires on the 24th, but this is not a time-limited trial or anything; once you have it, it's yours. Once you click the Install button on Portal's page on the Steam store, it's registered to your Steam account, and you can download it and play it anytime you like.

For those waiting for the linux version (myself included), grab a portal key NOW. They are free for all platforms (which are pc/mac right now), but ALL steam keys work on ALL steam platforms/versions ALWAYS.
I just grabbed a free portal "mac key" even though i don't own a mac. it will work in windows right now and when the linux version comes out, that same key will work there.
short-version: Now matter what platform you have (windows/mac/linux/etc) grab a key. If steam EVER releases a client for your environment (xbox/ps3/etc) that key will work there as well.

I do have one let down to report though. Although they say it is the full version of the game and it is free and yours (which it is) it does not include the "Source SDK" that most source games do.
This means you cannot use community made maps or mods unless you buy another game that uses the Source Engine from Valve and install the SDK from that. Fortunately some of those games are about $5 USD.
I am grateful for the free game, but they should change the wording on "Full Game" or add an asterisk and an explanation.
