Hate the new Google look? Change it back with a Userscript.

There may be all kinds of sound reasoning behind the changes Google recently rolled out to their search interface, but that doesn't mean everyone likes the new look. If you count yourself among those who wish they'd stuck with the more spartan design, it's easy to bring back.
There are several new userscripts that have been posted to strip the left sidebar from Google's search results page. I've found OldGoogle to work well in both Chrome and Firefox. There's also REMOVE Google SideBar, Good old Google search, and a handful of others.
OG works for me, but you may want to try the others depending on which browser (and which particular version) you're using. Firefox users, of course, need to install Greasemonkey ahead of time to use the scripts.

Or you could, you know, use it for at least a week before making up your mind.
I personally hated this new look during the beta, but I have actually grown to love it and find it plenty useful.

I'm with you on that one...Based on the number of complaints I've seen, though, I figured it was worth letting people know that they aren't really stuck with something they don't like.

@Lee Mathews: Oh ya, I dont mind the article at all. When I said "you" I meant people in general, which I am sure you already know.

The MASSIVE amount of backlash about this new forced layout is being passed off as meaningless by Google decision-makers.
The have lost me as a customer, and MANY other disgruntled users.
The sidebar, which cannot be disabled, eats up FAR too much space on the left side of my screen, seriously impeding on my work flow efficiency.
I have now completely switched my searching over to Ask.com, which provides a simpler interface and search results just as relevant as the old Google. I'm in the process of switching my email from Gmail to my ISP-provided inbox. Hate to have to do it, but I REFUSE to support a company that does not listen to it's most loyal customers.
And yes, we ARE customers... even it it's a service provided "for free", without us, they would not make any money at all.
I URGE ALL WHO ARE UPSET WITH THE CHANGES,
BOYCOTT GOOGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boycott Google and use what? Bing has a sidebar too genius.
Former GooglerMay 8th 2010 12:55AM
Bing isn't the only option.
Currently using dogpile.com and ask.com
both provide a great, clean alternative.

I use GoogleMonkeyR ( http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9310 ). Kills all the ads and has column options as well as continuously loading results.

Dogpile is awesome. I hate Google with a passion. However, I think that this change is better for their user base.

Changed my homepage to dogpile after 20 years! I am sick of adding multiple scripts to get rid of stupid google unwanted features, first one script not to get my search results redirected trough google and now this one!
