VirtualBox 3.2 beta adds official support for OS X VMs -- sorta

Don't get too excited just yet, though.
While the operating system is listed as a guest OS type in VirtualBox on all platforms, it's only working on Mac hardware. Still, for Mac users who have been waiting to be able to easily virtualize additional OS X desktops on their systems, VBox 3.2 should work nicely. The rest of us can, of course, get an OS X guest working with some additional hacking -- that's been possible for a while now.
Download VirtualBox 3.2 beta 1 and take it for a spin!

I heard about this the other day but you broke my heart, Lee, when you stated Mac support is only on Mac hardware. That's some bullshit! Any documentation supporting the reason behind this?

Isnt this a violation of apples license agreement??? I think the only OSX version that is allowed to run in a VM is SERVER.. not the regular version...
That is why VMware fusion only lets you run Server in a VM...

I don't know as much about the Mac OS's as I'd like. This one line that I found on the VMWare site listing the supported guest operating systems confuses me:
Mac OS X Server 10.6 Snow Leopard and 10.5 Leopard
What I'm not sure of is whether they are listing two versions of Server (10.6 and 10.5) or Server, and two desktop versions.
Anyway... I don't see Apple ever licensing the desktop OS to run as a guest OS on a windows PC unfortunately. That's what the OSX86 sites are for. :)

There are already hacks out there for VMware player/workstation to let you run osx on windows/linux machines, provided that your hardware would support osx natively, since VMware player and fusion are built on the same code base. As usual there are limits (especially graphics) and this definitely violates apple's terms and conditions, but it's a neat experiment.

it only works on mac hardware? ehm isnt virtual machines supposed to emulate hardware all trough software? So what the hell did the do to make it hardware dependent?

Link? A Google search didn't turn up anything.
