UPLOADnSELL lets you sell E-Books and software easily... maybe
On paper, UPLOADnSELL sounds good:
- Upload an e-book, music files, software, or anything else.
- Send a PayPal link to your customers, via your site or email.
- The customer goes to PayPal and pays, and you get the money directly.
- UPLOADnSELL gets a notification from PayPal and emails your customer the link to your file.
- The customer downloads the file, and everybody's happy.
However, there are some important concerns here:
- The site seems badly written. It's all lowercase, with random things like two exclamation marks. It seems fishy to me.
- As is so often the case with such things, they're not clear on their business model. Their "How it Works" chart doesn't show how it works for them, which is weird.
- The whole thing seems, either, very new or very low profile.
What do you think? Would you try selling something through this site? If not, what's the best service for this?

"If not, what's the best service for this?"
PayLoadz Express, 'nuff said.

Their TOS says: "Some products and services available through or in connection with UPLOADnSELL.com require that You purchase a subscription or otherwise pay a fee." so I suspect that's where their income will come from. And I'm sure there'll be advertising on whatever link buyers are sent to.

I wouldn't ever sell stuff on this site, or any site like it. Generally, you can't sell stuff you don't own, and when it comes to ebooks, software, music, etc, you only own a license to use it yourself. Using such a service would be bad for everyone involved.

what if you are the author

if you're the author, then there's better places to sell your stuff, like on Amazon or the Apple iBook store.

Thanks for the review Erez. Yep, we have a lot to work on at UPLOADnSELL, one of it is the Pro Account. As for the free-and-easy product upload, we covered it in the FAQ page where we monetize with advertisement on download pages. Try uploading a product (or some files) and see... you'll understand better when you do that.

No, I wouldn't use that site. As an author selling ebooks, I sell from Amazon, Smashwords (which gets me into Apple, Sony, Barnes&Noble) and my own sites. I also sell from Youpublish, Scribd, MyEbook, Ebay but those are all very slow with sales. Focus on the biggies and your own websites. Read a good guide like How to Make, Market and Sell Ebooks - All for FREE.

I'll check it out for my paid e-book online service.
However I plan to host free e-books on my new site (in development). Can anyone recommend software that I can use to offer free downloads from my site?
I would like customers to click and download from my site/ servers.

UPLOADnSELL serve a different kind of market. This is for those who'd like to promote their products (ebooks, software, graphics, template documents... anything digital) themselves. UPLOADnSELL is more for those small independent publishers and not just for ebooks. Product creators can upload their product, have control over marketing and promotion and get paid directly into their Paypal account.
Yes, distributing your ebook to Amazon, B&N, Kobo, Sony, etc would open up your ebook to a huge marketplace. That is for those you are prepared to wait for your check, give away a bigger cut of the sale and don't want to do any marketing.
Anyway, we are different from ebook stores as we don't sell your ebooks. We provide two major things:
- digital product delivery (email customers, expiring downloads, etc)
- Paypal payment integration (straight to your Paypal account)
If you'd like to have control over marketing, get payment directly to your Paypal account and you are not just selling ebooks (or not ebooks at all), do consider UPLOADnSELL.com. We'll be rolling out our Pro Account in mid August 2011.
Anyway, thanks for all of your feedbacks and comments. Have a great day.
