Apple iPad: not just for 2-year-olds but also for almost-centurions
The Oregonian has a cute human-interest piece about Virginia and her iPad -- go read it. It's amazing to think that after 99 years, your life can still be revolutionized by a light, bright touch screen computer. But the best bit -- the bit that really shows off both the prowess of Apple's marketing mastery and the greatness of the iPad -- is that she's never owned a computer before. At the ripe old age of 99, the iPad is Virginia's first computer. Not only can she use it to read books -- she has glaucoma, making paper print hard to read -- but she can also write using the large on-screen keyboard.
I'll leave you with a poem that she wrote as a tribute to the device and the long-gone abilities she has regained.

A "centurion" was a commander in the Roman army.
I believe the term you were looking to use is "centenarian".

I live in Portland and I am afraid to say that the follow up story isn't so great. The iPad was amazing at first, to think someone so old could learn new tech so fast. A testament to Apple's interface design.
Unfortunately, she learned so fast and become incredibly frustrated at the lack of Flash on the tablet. There were a number of knitting sites with online videos that were not able to play. She just snapped... the horror...

You've got to admit, you're doing something right with UI design when anyone of any age can pick up your device and use it without difficulty.
Now if only the damned thing were a fully featured OS (or we could push everyone to HTML 5!)

Just thinking about it... is there like a 'Flash interactive' version of 2-girls-one-cup? One where you can control the flow of action... could be kinda cool.

ipad got so many problems,but still can't stop people buying.
Why?
I guess just outlooking attract many,and some Personalize setting make you more comfortable.
Specially,it never similar with any others,so if you are conditioned to use Apple stuff,you are in.
