Scott's GMail Alert 4.0 is an even better desktop notifier for GMail and Google Calendar

I wrote about Scott's GMail Alert last year. It's a terrific desktop notifier with support for multiple GMail accounts (including GoogleMail and Google Apps), Google Calendar, and RSS feeds. Version 4.0 is now out, and Scott's app is better than ever.
As you can see in the screenshot, Aero transparency is now supported. You can also now change the location where your alerts appear and choose to not display them when you're running another application full screen. Another interruption-blocking feature is the option to schedule notifications for specific times -- a great way to stick to your pre-defined timetable for checking email.
Overall, speed and reliability are better than previous versions and a number of subtle (but welcome) visual tweaks have been made.
With loads of features and the ability to handle notifications from a number of sources, Scott's GMail Alert easily ranks as one of the top desktop notifiers for Windows. You can download it for free at the author's site.

Its free to download, but has limitation, and need $3 donation to remove the restriction. sad

How many e-mail accounts do you need as an individual?
And, is $3 going to use all of your weekly pocket money FFS!!

The restriction is that it only lets you monitor 5 gmail accounts. Without restriction it lets you monitor an unlimited number. What other program lets you do so much with 5 accounts for free?

It looks like a great app, but does it also serve as an IM client? If not, I don't think I'll use it.

I am in the process of adding Google Talk into the program.

Sounds great. I'm sure DLS will let us know when that happens.

Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, it wouldn't work for me.
I knew that I had e-mails in my Inbox but it was still showing '0 new messages' in this app'.
E-mailed Scott but had no reply as yet.
