Hey Jay, is there any dvd player out there that has usb port which could play mkv files?

Not sure. If you've ripped the DVD and don't have the original, you could probably just burn a copy ...

What i meant is to putting the movie into USB and playing it in a dvd player with usb port which could play mkv files. I know WDTV does that.

i have a WDTV HD and mkv files have been hit or mis for me. video playback is always splendid but most of the time there is no audio. something to do with the way the audio is encoded that isn't compatible with the player. but i supposed if you knew what you were doing you could rip them the right way and get the right audio. just be warned it isn't fool proof.

Thanks kojo87 for the warning. Hmmmm, i was thinking to buy WDTV thinking it would play all mkv files, just like KM Player or VLC would do to all mkv movies.

kojo87 - The reason you are not hearing audio on your MKV's is probably because they have DTS audio, and you do not have the WDTV plugged into a receiver to perform the DTS decoding. In which case you need to covert the audio to AC3 audio...
