Microsoft roadmap leak -- Windows 8 in 2011?

Ah, speculations. Where would we be without them? Now that the iPad is out, we can finally start speculating on other things. One of these is Windows 8. I'm actually not convinced it's all that fascinating -- the paint is barely dry on Windows 7! SP1 isn't even out yet, which makes it practically still wet behind the ears if we judge by XP's lifespan (Vista, nobody's looking at you).
However, it would appear that Microsoft may be speeding up its product development cycle. After doing so well with 7, and not too badly with Office 2010 (I have to say, I'm a huge fan -- Office 2010 rocks, pretty ribbon and all), it seems as though the folks at Redmond are not letting up. There's a PDF that purports to be a leaked roadmap from an ex-Microsoft employee, and shows Windows 8 going RTM (released to manufacturing) on July 1, 2011.
Ex-Microsoft employee -- that has a bit of a shady ring to it, I think. Hey, this roadmap here fell off the back of a truck ... Says Windows 8 is coming real soon now.

The picture link says

So I think all we're missing is a picture of a truck, that would fit nicely with the last line of the article, "Hey, this roadmap here fell off the back of a truck ... Says Windows 8 is coming real soon now. "

And it's already fixed by the time I made my post. Silly me!

Two years between Vista and W7...2 years to W8. Sounds reasonable to me!

thats normal for MS release shedules. XP is really the odd sheep, and at least part of it can be blamed on Blaster and Sasser viruses

It was closer to three years between Vista and 7.
Vista came out in January 2007 and 7 came out in October 2009, about 33 months later.

Microsoft has been on a role lately. ever since the Zune HD they seem to be pumping out nothing but awesome products.

Kinda confusing, though...will Windows 8 be Windows 6.x or Windows 7.0? Oh well. :P

Notice the site at the bottom of the pages that says "From http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifeselect"? Notice how to the right it says "This information is provided as a guide only and is likely to contain errors"? Also notice that, on the site provided, (unlikely there would be anyway) there is no information about future products? Office 2010 isn't even there yet, so there is no reason for it to have a product lifecycle on the spreadsheet to begin with. The "hyperlinks" in the PDF don't even work. It's simply poorly underlined text. I would take this with a mine of salt.

It looks fake. But I have heard similar rumors before, so it *COULD* be on to something

I think this isn't legit. It has a strange smell...
Why would they leak something like this, when they haven't drawn all the money from win7? I don't know, but something is fishy here.

I call bullshit. The roadmap looks legit, but the fact they'll shoot to release Windows 8 less than 15 months after 7 just doesn't seem right. Unless of course they've dropped the "major" releases and are mimicking what Apple does, smaller releases for a smaller price.
