'Facebook fugitive' that escaped jail and updated status on the run caught

It only took my dear friends at the British police four months, but they've caught him!

Craig 'Lazie' Lynch shot to fame last month when his Facebook fan page suddenly gained traction and attracted over 40,000 fans in just a few days. He regularly updated his status and even uploaded photos while on the run -- I would link you to the fan page itself, but Facebook finally took it down last week. Lazie became such a hit that there was even a tribute song... and a t-shirt!

We have no idea where he was hiding, or even why he escaped, but he spent most of those four months taunting the police with derisive status updates and rather mean images (as you can see on the right). Hopefully more news will come to light in the next few days after he appears in court to answer for his amusing, adolescent but ultimately unlawful behaviour.

The circumstances are a little weird: he escaped from a low-security jail just weeks before the end of his seven-year sentence for aggravated burglary. Rumor suggests that he was actually trying to extend his jail sentence by running away. Hollesley Bay prison in Suffolk, England, must be a real laid-back joint. Ah, the criminal justice system at its finest...
