Perpetual Blaze: not a shoot-em-up, it's a barge-em-up Time Waster

You've probably heard of shoot-em-up games, but what the heck is a "barge-em-up?" Instead of shooting enemies, you smash into them to destroy them and score points. Perpetual Blaze is the first barge-em-up I've played, and it's a lot of fun. Aside from the barging, it's pretty standard space action, you play as a fireball against an array of different ships. And, while you can only smash them, they can definitely shoot you if you're not careful.

Your arsenal includes energy boosts, temporary invincibility, and a neat little time-bending trick that helps you avoid getting shot. You'll need all of these to keep your constantly-dwindling energy from hitting zero. You can play using either the mouse or the keyboard, but the mouse is much more effective, in this reviewer's humble opinion. Play is unlimited, so the enemies never stop coming and there are no levels. You're just in it for survival time and high scores. If you're tired of shoot-em-up time wasters and need an interesting change of pace, Perpetual Blaze might be for you.
