Android 2 may hit T-Mobile G1 devices soon
Although we haven't seen any official confirmation of this, there's a widely-circulated rumor that T-Mobile G1 phones are getting an Android OS update soon. That could mean G1 owners will be treated with Android 2.0, or the latest and greatest version, 2.1. That's good news for early adopters whose T-Mo contracts were still running when Android 2.0 and the Verizon Droid hit the streets. The bump to 2.0 (or 2.1?) is rumored to be an over-the-air update. It should bring speedier, snappier performance, along with a ton of new features. 2.0 was a pretty major overhaul of the Android OS, adding car mode, new navigation features, and Facebook and Gmail integration. There's some speculation on message boards that Android 2.0 can't actually fit on a G1 without using an SD card, but I wouldn't be surprised if Google found a way to make it work. I've got my fingers crossed for you, G1 owners!

Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed! I do hope I get the 2.0 or even higher.. Who cares if the SD card is used anyway.. I don't want to go trough all the trouble of rooting and flashing it with a cust rom so I just hope for the update!

Pepi,
The problem with a mobile phone OS being partially installed on a SD card are just too numerous to mention. Trust me, you never, ever want that - and any manuf. who does that is absolutely nuts.
I'm crossing my fingers as well. I'm going to invest in a Nexus One but can't imagine being comfortable without a physical keyboard, so I hope the G1 lives on as long as it possibly can....or at least until something like the Droid comes to Tmobile. I'm not on contract but I'm so happy with the QoS and QoCS that I can't bring myself to even sniff around other carriers.

The G1 and MyTouch do not have this type of Bluetooth profile. So, while they are very capable of connecting to Bluetooth earpieces and connecting to eachother and pairing, they are not capable of sharing any data back and forth.

Tell that to CyanogenMod which does Bluetooth data transfer between phones.

I am hoping against hope that T-Mobile does what Rogers is doing with their G1 owners.
