Get Windows 7's window-snapping tricks on your Mac with Cinch
I know some Mac users hate to admit that Windows 7 has something OS X doesn't, but the way Windows 7 handles window positioning is so slick that there's now a Mac app to imitate it. WIndows 7 calls it the Aero Snap, but Mac developer Irradiated Software calls it Cinch. With Cinch installed, you can drag windows to your screen edges and watch them snap into place.
Dragging a window to a screen edge will fit it to that half of the screen, either horizontally or vertically. Dragging a window to the top edge of the screen will full-screen it. If you drag a window back to the center of the screen, Cinch will restore it to its original size. Cinch is great for quickly getting windows side-by-side or on top of one another, and it even works on multiple-monitor setups.
If you're a keyboard-only sort of person, you can also check out Irradiated's other window management apps, TwoUp and SizeUp.

Haha. Windows actually comes up with something and within a few months Linux (through a compiz tweak) and Mac (above) have it.
Linux or mac come up with something, and windows takes 3 YEARS to implement it (if they ever do at all).

Jeez, Windows does something right, and they still get ripped on.

I love Aero snaps, esp maximize & compare/potrait mode. It was actually surprising to see myself use it without even thinking about it. I guess props to Microsoft guys to think of something which would be very useful to folks.

Agree with Arnie, snaps are great and very intuitive. I'd like to hear from any users who've used Cinch about how it compares to Win7's Aero Snap.

Cinch is awesome. I recently installed it because my PC had this feature and when I purchased my Mac a few weeks ago I was missing it. It works just as well as the windows version which makes me happy.
