That was an enjoyable read. I was nodding all the way through until I hit the little paranoid moment about Mozilla merging with Microsoft *shudders* lets not think of such things.
I like the enthusiasm for webGL too. I wasn't too enthused about it but after reading its really just opengl merged with javascript. It sounds more likely itll grow legs and take off next year. I think it needs a catchier name though. webgl is terrible for any non techy. Ya know like how saying three dimensional positional audio is cool for nerds but surround sound is much more likeable for everyone else.

Yeah... tell me about it. Not sure why it's called WebGL. But then again we use phrases like 'HTML' -- you'd think normal people would dig 'hypertext', but no... HTML. Depends on the marketing I guess, and ubiquity.
I don't really think we'll see an IE/Firefox hybrid. I was just throwing that one out there -- who knows, if I do actually turn out to be right, I will be FAMOUS.

lol you can definetly say you said it first if it does come true as I've never read that anywhere, and stranger things have happened in the world of tech. Like who'd have thought a display made from fire would ever happen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WJduA9DVYU&feature
You're right about html and the more I think about it. We use all kinds of weird acronyms. MP3, HDMI, CDROM, HTTP and JPEG to name a few and i bet most of those our mothers could say and know what they meant without knowing what they stood for.

Is that you dancing in the foreground?
I'm not sure that's really a 'display' as such...
But assuming they get the resolution high enough one day, it would make for really realistic special effects in films .. ..

No not me. But he's giving techno viking a run for his money there isn't he?
I know its not a very good display, but seems to be enough to scroll characters. so I'll settle with calling it a crude display. I'll have to think of a better example of something you'd never have expected in tech.
