Who needs shipping? 14 online sites where you can get great gifts


Don't want to spend more on shipping your gifts to arrive before Christmas than they're actually worth? Don't worry, there are lots of online sites where you can give some super gifts via download online certificates. Here are 14 places to check out to give some great gifts:

E-Gift Cards:
Amazon.com offers the ability to send gift cards via email in any denomination from $1-5,000. Your gift card can arrive in your friend's inbox as soon as you hit checkout. You can also print your gift card and give them something that is more tangible.

Barnes and Noble is another option if you'd like to send an online gift certificate to someone. B&N provides online access to ebooks which can be read on iPhones and Blackberries, Mac or PCs. All your gift recipient will have to do to get started reading, is select their book at B&N.com and download the free eReader software. Note, gift certificates can only be used at B&N.com, not in stores.

Macys.com offers the ability to send e-gift cards until 1pm on December 24. Your recipient will receive a personalized email within 24 hours, redeemable at Macys.com, macysweddingchannel.com or in stores.


Nordstrom - send a Virtual Gift Card and it will be emailed to your recipient within 4 hours for immediate shopping online or in stores.

Land's End - E-Gift Cards are sent within 4 hours or less and for a limited time, gift cards of $50 or more will include free shipping for your recipient.

Walmart - EGift Cards from $10 - $200 are available and can be sent within hours of ordering. EGift cards can be used online only.

Games
Steam games: Our resident game expert Sebastian Anthony gave an enthusiastic thumbs up to several Steam powered games that make great gifts. You can select from a huge catalog for everyone from the casual to the advanced gamer in your life. After you put the game you want to buy in your shopping cart, select "Purchase as a gift" and you'll be well on your way to crossing that item off your to do list.

GOG.com
: Good old games has a nice holiday promo going on where selected titles are up to 40% off. You can gift games for your friends. To gift a selected game, click "gift this game to a friend" link, and you'll be redirected to the checkout page where you can enter the recipient's email address.

Best Buy.com: Through their partner sites you can download games on BestBuygames.com and Games.bestbuy.com. Since these are fulfillment sites Best Buy gift cards aren't accepted. The good news is they also take the usual plastic - Visa, MasterCard, etc.

Music
eMusic.com: You can buy a gift code for eMusic's MP3s (which play on every portable MP3 player, including the iPod) and audibooks. There are 3 gift plans you can choose from, 3 months for $29.99, 6 months for $59.99, and 12 for $119.99.

iTunes
: Select movies, songs, playlists, TV shows, audiobooks, etc., from the iTunes store and give them as gifts. Just click the down arrow on the item's Buy button and select Gift this, then follow the instructions. If you'd rather have the recipient choose, you can purchase a gift certificate between $10-$50 (denominations of 10) and email it instantly.

Don't forget your favorite Facebook friends. You can send them an iTunes Online Gift from the iTunes Facebook Fan page. After picking your gift card template and choosing an amount between $5 to $50, you select your Facebook friends as recipients via their names or email addresses, and you can schedule delivery or send immediately.

Hosting
