Picasa's desktop app now has collaborative albums and name tags
Picasa, Google's photo sharing service, has allowed collaborative photo albums on the web for months, but the Picasa desktop app is just now getting this feature. Now, when you upload an album using the desktop, you can assign editing privileges to other users. That way, you can easily collect everyone's photos of an event in the same shared album. With collaborative albums, you can either give album access to Picasa group or enter the email addresses of any individuals you want to share with. If others have given you access to their albums, you can now add photos to them using the desktop app. This way, you don't have to log into Picasa on the web after you upload, just to change permissions on your photos.
The latest version of Picasa desktop also introduces name tags, so you can identify people in photos. It will even go through your albums and pick out the photos with faces in them, to make tagging less of a hassle. If you've ever tagged photos on Facebook, you should have no problem figuring this feature out.

Awesome. It's about time.
Now if the would add full TIFF support we'd be all set. For some reason Picasa won't handle a certain type of TIFF that is created when scanning construction plans. If they could add that support then my company would use install it on all 50 workstations.
