Twitter gets a new and improved mobile site
Twitter's long-ignored, kinda-pointless mobile site is now less ignored and less pointless after a major refresh. It now uses Twitter's own APIs, and includes features that were conspicuously missing from the old version of m.twitter.com, like mentions and avatars. It's also got a new look that feels a lot more like the full Twitter website. You can check mobile.twitter.com to see the new version (it hasn't been moved over to m.twitter yet).Apparently, more people were using Twitter's mobile site than I assumed. With good, free Twitter clients available on all of the phones for which m.twitter is optimized, I just stopped visiting it after a while. Apps aren't up everyone's alley, though, so it's cool to see Twitter making its mobile experience more useful and more consistent with the desktop version of the site.
