I think you might have your math wrong...according to the article (techradar), 2.5 billion photos are uploaded a month, which roughly equates to 1000 photos a second, not 1.4 million.
2,500,000,000 / (30 * 24 * 60 * 60) = 964.5

Hehe, Techradar have updated their article to a much more reasonable number since I wrote this last night!
