The Atari classics are back and free to play! Asteroids, Lunar Lander and MORE!

Believe it or not, Atari have just released a bunch of old games on their own website. These aren't clones, these aren't even 'loving interpretations' -- these are the real thing, remade by Atari themselves. This comes as part of a re-launch for the Atari website which includes an online store.
I warn you, if you read on, this might turn into more than just a mere ten-minute time-waster.

It's not just Asteroids and Lunar Lander that are fully playable either. There's Yars' Revenge, Adventure, Crystal Castles and Battlezone too. One can only assume this is just the beginning, with such a vast archive of popular games ready to be converted and brought back to the public eye.
The detail in which these old games have been recreated is beautiful: from the wood veneer to the font used in the games -- it's all there. You could even plug your Atari Joystick into your computer via some funky USB adaption for the REAL old-school experience.

They're so popular, I couldn't even get onto their website last night, but it seems to have calmed down a little now. If you're an old-school gamer, this is probably the best Time-Waster I could possibly give you. If you're a newbie, go and have a look at the spiritual forefathers of modern-day gaming!

The perfect match for these authentic Atari arcade games is this joystick:

It looks just like the old classic Atari joysticks from the 80's and works on PC's and on Mac's too.
There is some software you can use in their Faq & Support area that even allows the joystick to act like a keyboard so you are able to play browser based games. These would make killer stocking stuffers for videogamer for the holidays!
